Evaluate 21st Century Skills

My first reaction to The Partnership for the 21st Century skills website was overwhelming. However, the more time I spent exploring I became instantly impressed with the amount of information. This was almost a one stop shop for parents, educators and the community. It allowed me quick access to State information. The first thing that I looked for was their mission statement, what is the purpose of this site. It was not overwhelming.

What surprised me was the easy of finding information. This site was very well organized, detailed and planned out. I went directly to the Information, media and Technology Skills section. Tons of resources at the easy of a click.

There is nothing I could disagree with but I wondered why in today's day and age, technology is not considered a core class. Is technology just a tool to enhance learning for core classes? There was a section under global that contained useful information for educators.

As an educator, my goal is to provide a foundation of learning for every student to become successful human beings. Furthering my education is allowing me to open up many more educational doors for my students. The more comfortable I become, the more I can introduce to my students. The 21st century of work ethics and learning is a different world.

6th graders blogging?

The primary purpose for creating a blog for my 6th grade class would be to use this blog to communicate with each other on daily assignments. At the same time, this exercise would introduce them to blogging. When taking a survey of my classes, less then two percent understand what blogging is.

6th graders are intimidated as they are now attending middle school. This will give the chance to discuss any issues they might have outside of class also. Some may find it easier to type their question rather than becoming vocal in front of a whole class of peers.

Technology in the class room

This is my first time blogging and I'm very nervous but I know this will be a useful tool. Is there a free tutorial that was useful to anyone?
