Hey Terri, I am a bit nervous too, but together we can do this. You may use technology a little bit differently than I do since you teach Middle School and I teach Elementary. However, I still think that we can help each other out. I do not really know about adding internet security to the classroom. If you find any tutorials - please let me know! Thanks, Barb
Terri, I just read your comment on my blog - I would love to try out the website for powerpoints! Thanks! I saw this backround and loved it because I really like polka dots and it kind of looks like them. Barb
The primary purpose for creating a blog for my 6th grade class would be to use this blog to communicate with each other on daily assignments. At the same time, this exercise would introduce them to blogging. When taking a survey of my classes, less then two percent understand what blogging is.
6th graders are intimidated as they are now attending middle school. This will give the chance to discuss any issues they might have outside of class also. Some may find it easier to type their question rather than becoming vocal in front of a whole class of peers.
I hope that you see a good response from your students. I think you are right that many of the students may not want to ask questions in front of the class. Is there a way for them to be anonymous on the blog or is it open for all to see? If it is open they may not feel any more comfortable asking on the blog than they did in class. Just a thought.
Good question. I will have to experiment with that. My first thought is that they could each come up with a code name. I believe there is an option not to post your name.
I would like to incorporate internet security into my middle school classes. Wondering if others have presentations that they feel are beneficial.
